  2. Win 10 WindowsImageBackup sub folder seems to have the incorrect time

    Win 10 Home

Version 1703 with all available updates applied.

Control Panel \ Backup and Restore (Windows 7)

I have always thought the following represents the WindowsImageBackup folder structure.

WindowsImageBackup folder Structure (starting from root of drive)

    • WindowsImageBackup
      • [Computer name]
        • Backup [date and time of backup]
          • A bunch of XML files
          • A bunch of .vhdx files
        • Catalog
          • BackupGlobalCatalog
          • GlobalCatalog
        • Logs
          • At least one .log file
        • SPPMetadataCache
          • At least one file with random letter/number combinations, separated by dashes, surrounded by {}’s
        • MediaId file
In my case first sub folder (above) is not indicating any time that makes sense to me.

It DOES contain the correct date.

    But not the time.

I created a new WindowsImageBackup folder structure earlier today at 3:00 pm Central.

But my folder ended up named "Backup 2017-08-21 195346"

Anyone know what the "195346" means ?

BTW, the date, time and zone are set correctly.

    I'm so confused.

Copy/Clone of HDD used for Windows Backups

    cereberus & SIW2
Using File Explorer- Copy I can copy the three files/folders (C-DESKTOP, WindowsImageBackup, and MediaID.bin) from my backup external HDD to another external HDD. When I open WindowsImageBackup folder on the copy external HDD all the backedup files are there.

The problem I run into is - when I disconnect my backup HDD (you must do this or get incorrect results) and do a System Image Restore; Windows System Image Restore from the copy only lists the one system image (the latest system image) and does not list the other system images that I know are on the drive.

It does not matter if I use File Explorer to copy or if I clone the backup HDD with Macrium Reflect. I get the same result, when I try to restore system images from the copy - only the latest system image is shown.

If anyone knows a way to copy a backup HDD and then have Windows System Restore list all of the system images from the copy, I would be interested in knowing what the trick is.

Or, to state the problem in another way, does anyone know of a way to make a backup of their backup HDD?
