Windows 10: How to restore key registry in win 10. Avast change it and I can't open document with...

Avast scanned the file, it wasn't a virus but after this scan the registry key was modified and I can't open this kind of files anymore.

To restore the registry
Open Registry Editor.
Click Options, and then click Print to print these instructions. (If you are using the Help and Support Center, click Print above the topic area.) They will not be available after you shut down your computer in step 2.
Click Start, and then click Shut Down.
In the list, click Restart, and then click OK.
When you see the message Please select the operating system to start, press F8.
Use the arrow keys to highlight Last Known Good Configuration, and then press ENTER.
NUM LOCK must be off before the arrow keys on the numeric keypad will function.

Use the arrow keys to highlight an operating system, and then press ENTER.
Caution

Incorrectly editing the registry may severely damage your system. Before making changes to the registry, you should back up any valued data on your computer.
Notes

To open Registry Editor, click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
Choosing Last Known Good Configuration provides a way to recover from problems such as a newly added driver that may be incorrect for your hardware. It does not solve problems caused by corrupted or missing drivers or files.
When you choose Last Known Good Configuration, Windows restores information in registry key HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet only. Any changes you have made in other registry keys remain.

Perform System restore.

I suggest you to perform system restore and select a date prior to the changes which was done with the registry values and check if the issue gets fixed.

To perform System restore:

• Press Windows key + X, select
  System.
• In the left pane, click on System Protection.
• Select the option to system restore
  > next. It will show all restore points already created.
• Select the date prior to the date on which you have made the registry changes.

cannot edit registry editor keys

I can not seem to be allowed to edit these AVAST program keys. AVAST program will not install and givesan error of a:

"side by side configuration problem" I reinstalled the C++ packages as per AVAST tech support suggestion---no help---

I then proceeded to open up Win 10 Registry and I find the following Avast data keys configurations at the

location: [Computer\hkey_local_machine\system\CurrentControlSet\\service\aswSP\parameters]

Program Folder (type--- Reg_SZ) (data---\??\C:\Program File\AVAST software\AVAST

Program Data (type---Reg_SZ) data...\??\C:\ProgramData\AVAST software\AVAST

etc.

I have no idea what the question marks represent, so I tried to edit these data keys as administrator and remove those question marks, just to see if there was any improvement, but Win 10 does not allow me to edit these data keys. I get the error "cannot
edit [data folder or program folder, etc] --error writing the values new content. my questions"--- Question---does anyone know what is the meaning of the question marks, and why I can not edit these keys?
