Windows 10: How to restore Win10 from a full partition backup?

Hello, I am a Win8 user previously I am using Win10, and I am facing problems with Win10 currently.The Windows 10 system can't boot BSoD: INACCESSIBLE_ROOT_DEVICE because of libusb driver problems probably. However I can't find a way to work it out.What I tried are as follows:1. System repair: It does not work2. Last known good configuration: It seemed that Win10 has removed the VERY useful function that may solve the problem perfectly.3. If Win7 is free-upgraded to Win10, the partition backed up, then rolled back to Win7 before 29 July, will Win10 install from the backup with license at a later date?

This is a somewhat complex question, so please only answer if you fully understand it and
know the answer!

Background: I have a Windows 7 computer that could be upgraded to Windows 10. I would like the free upgrade, but I don't wish to upgrade until I have to.

So I intend to do the following, if it will work:

• Upgrade Windows7 to Windows 10 before 29 July (i.e. take advantage of the free upgrade offer).
• Do a partition backup for the upgraded (Win10) partition.
• Roll back Windows 10 to Windows 7 (before 29 July).
• Keep running Windows 7 until a little before new Critical Updates cease to be provided for it (14/1/2020).
• Backup my personal data files.
• Restore the OS partition from the Win10 partition backup I made in Step 2 above.
• Copy my personal data files from my most recent backup to their respective folders on the Win10 partition.

My question is: Will Step 6 above result in a licensed Windows 10, or is the license destroyed forever at Microsoft's server on the rollback to Win7 in step 3?

 

Free hard drive backup/restore program?

I am looking for a free (freeware) program that will back up and restore a hard drive. I'm looking to clone a few external hard drives. If the program will backup the used space instead of the whole drive this will be awesome! Thanks for any suggestions.

 

Question about Win10 and partitions.



So I have a partition ready for Win10 but my question is will I still be able to access my other partitions once Win10 is installed? I keep hearing about the "recovery partition won't be able to be used" and I'm wondering if Win10 just doesn't play nice or if I'm good to go.
