    How to retrieve a Windows key from old hard drive?


    Hello,I had a PC that had Windows 11 on it. I had to send to the warranty folks and they could not fix it, and they gave me a full refund. I kept the hard drive before I sent it back to repair place. I have purchased all the parts and am building a new PC. How can I get the Windows 11 key from this old drive and use the key on my new PC? I have the hard drive connected to my other PC through a SATA enclosure with USB connections. Thank you for your assistance.PJ

    I am Dave, I will help you with this.

    There is a method posted on the link below to retrieve the product key from that hard drive, if it is a full retail licence purchased separately to the old PC:

    If you can successfully retrieve the product key, I would suggest it is best to install and Activate Windows 10 on your new build, then upgrade to Windows 11, that will give Windows 11 the best possible chance of activating successfully.

    Hey Guys,
    What would be the best way of copying/imaging the entire contents of an old system drive over to a replacement hard disk for the same machine? I need to copy the Windows installations and all other data to the new drive, and then format the old drive to use as a backup.
