    Photo files opens in old Photo Viewer.
    How to return OPEN the original application Photos ?
    I tried: to restore the default application and association file.
    No change, thank you.

    Change the default app for photos in windows 10

    Running Windows 8, if I was using an art program and wanted to open a picture to work with, Picassa would open to let me search easily for a particular photo.

    Having installed Windows 10, when I want to open a photo to work with, Windows Explorer opens rather than Picassa.

    How can I return to the situation where Picassa automatically opens to let me search for a photo to use in another art program?

    Original title: In W10, use Picassa to select a file rather than Windows Explorer, as could do in W8

    Or try my method (I actually wanted to go the other way, open in Photo Viewer instead of Photos).

    Right-click on a photo in File Explorer and choose 'Open with...' - 'Choose another app'. Select Photos, tick the 'Always use this app...' box and click OK. Repeat for each type of photo (.bmp, ,jpg, etc).
