Good day!I need help with my product key for the activation of my window. I have an old computer bought with window8 back in 2013. I did not update it to any version of window afterward and now my kid was experiencing difficulty installing python and pycharm and system was getting too slow. So I decided to upgrade. However, after multiple tries system was failing to upgrade the window from 8 to even 8.1 or 10. So I read another post on microsoft community for clean drive installation with generic product key, as my genuine product key was not accepted by the system while I tried to upgrade on

It seems like that's an OEM windows copy, it will do that the every time you reinstall the OS. If you have the key, next time you see the "not genuine windows copy" click it and choose to activate by phone, everything else is pretty straight forward as it explains step-by-step. If it doesn't work, then its highly likely that you got a Pirate copy.

My name is Freddys to check the windows license follow the steps below:

1. Open Command Prompt
   
2. Type slmgr /dlv
   
3. This will open Windows Script Host window
   

If it shows that the windows are activated till a certain date or it is not fully activated which means your Windows is either activated via organizations bulk purchased product key or it has been
activated using some kind of activation tool like KMSpico.

That isn't a genuine copy of Windows. Otherwise, it shows a license status: licensed without expiration time then is genuine.

Window 10 Product Key Reuse

There is no need to reuse your product key.

When you upgraded from a previous version of Windows or receive a new computer preinstalled with Windows 10, what happened is the hardware (your PC) will get a digital entitlement, where a unique signature of the computer will
be stored on Microsoft Activation Servers. The Windows 7 or Windows 8 genuine license you were previously running will be exchanged for a diagnostics key.

Anytime you need to reinstall Windows 10 on that machine, just proceed to reinstall Windows 10. It will automatically reactivate.

There is no need to know or get a new key, but if you have issues with Digital Licensing or the Activation Troubleshooter, you can utilize an existing Windows 7 or Windows 8/8.1 product key
you already ownto reactivate if necessary. or use the reset function in Windows 10.

If you are prompted to enter a product key, click 'I don't have a key' and 'Do this later'
