Windows 10: How to run audio from DAW and other programs (even YouTube) simultaneously?

Running Studio One Professional 4.6 through an Audient iD14. If I click onto another window it stops any audio coming from my DAW and vice verse. How do I avoid this?

Problem With the Way Windows 10 Handles Audio Hardware?

This issue may happens if the DAW has some compatibility issue with Windows 10. To narrow down the cause of this issue, I suggest you to try the below given methods and check if it works.

Method 1:

I suggest you to run the Playing Audio
troubleshooter while running the DAW software and check if it shows any error message pops up.

• Type troubleshooting in the search bar.
• Select Troubleshooting.
• Select View all on the top left corner.
• Click on Playing Audio.
• Follow the on-screen instructions to run the troubleshooter.
• Check if issue persists.

Method 2:

If issue persist, I suggest you to try installing DAW and other software in compatibility mode. Compatibility mode runs the program using settings from a previous version of Windows. Follow these steps to install the drivers in compatibility mode and
check if that helps.

• Download the setup files from the manufacturer’s website.

• Right-click on the driver setup file and click on ‘Properties’.
• Click on the ‘Compatibility’ tab and check the box
  ‘Run this program in compatibility mode for’ and select Windows 8/8.1 operating system from the drop down menu and proceed with the installation. Once this is done, restart the computer and check if the issue persists.

No sound - windows audio and audio end point builder not running/installed

Hi Leroy,

Windows Audio and Windows Audio Endpoint Builder are the two services needed in order for the computer's audio to work. These services may not be running and that can be the reason why the audio is not working. We recommend that you check these services
to see if they are running and set to Automatic. To do this, follow these steps:

• Simultaneously press the Windows key and letter R.
• In the Run textbox, type services.msc.
• Look for Windows Audio and Windows Audio Endpoint Builder.
• Check if the services are running. If not, right-click one of them and choose
  Properties.
• Click the Startup type drop-down menu, and choose Automatic.
• Under Service status, click Start.
• Click Apply, and the hit OK.
• Do steps 4 to 8 to the other audio service.

Can not record audio.
