Windows 10: How to run my laptop browser, gaming ,etc on battery power instead of plugged in?

So when my laptop is plugged in to the power source my Wi-Fi works well and I can game, being on a browser, etc. But when I unplug it fully charged my Wi-Fi is connected and secured but I can't game or be on any browser because it says I am not connected or never loads anything up for me. But as soon i connect to the power again it works fine. I don't understand why it does that. I have reset my modem thinking it was my wifi connection I have checked power saving options and changing some settings and did multiple restarts and still nothing.

Plugged in but battery does not charge

If the laptop works without the battery then charger is functioning correctly. Take a cloth with a bit of rubbing alcohol on it (or some on-the-go alcohol swabs), and clean the metal contacts that connect your battery to your laptop.

Make sure to install all Windows important updates.

Install latest versions of your laptop device drivers you can download the latest device drivers from the device manufacturer or from your laptop manufacturer website.


Step 1

1. Shutdown your laptop.

2. Remove the battery.

3. Connect the AC power adapter to your laptop.

4. Power on the laptop

5. Open the Device Manager by typing Devmgmt.msc into Start Menu or from Control Panel.

6. Under the Batteries category, right-click all of the Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery listings, and select Uninstall (it’s ok if you only have 1).





7. Shutdown the laptop.

8. Insert the battery.

9. Power on the laptop.

If above suggestions wont resolve the battery charge issue then follow below steps.




Step 2

1. Shutdown the laptop.

2. Remove the battery.

3. Start the laptop with only AC adapter connected to laptop.

4. When you login to Windows OS connect the battery while Windows OS working.





Step 3

Reset the System Management Controller. Use one of these methods to reset the SMC, which controls battery management, battery status light.

1. Shut down the computer and disconnect the power cord.

2. Remove the battery.

3. Press and hold the power button for ten seconds.

4. Reattach the battery and AC power adapter, then start up the laptop.


Hopefully one of the above suggestions will help you resolve the battery not charging problem. If battery still doesn't charge, you may need to replace your battery.

 

Online games run slowly while laptop is plugged in, but better on battery

First off, I recently purchased a replacement battery for my laptop (not branded), and I hadn't had a functioning battery for over a year, I simply used my laptop on power with no battery installed.

Ever since I purchased this battery I noticed something strange (but not completely unheard of after searching online). When the laptop is plugged in AND has the battery installed, the performance of online games is very stuttered and laggy (imagine a pause
every 1/2 second). When running on purely battery power, the online games work just fine.

I do not see a drop in performance of my computer in general, it mainly appears during online games. This may be just due to the intensity of the online games I play (Heroes of the Storm, Team Fortress 2, other Steam games), or it could be due to something
in relation to the network connection.

I have searched for an answer to this in many forums, but nothing has helped. Here is what I have tried/confirmed so far, and other information that may be of use.

-This is not related to "Power management" settings, I am well-aware of advanced power management settings and adjusted plugged in, and battery power to be the same in all aspects, and even created an entirely new setting to see if the old ones were corrupt
with no success.

-The problem occurs and disappears instantly - when I plug in the computer the lag occurs as soon as the laptop realizes it is plugged in, and returns to good performance when unplugged

-The problem does not occur. when the battery is at 100% charge AND plugged in (the power is bypassing the battery at that time).

-I don't think this is a bad AC adapter, since it runs fine without the battery, and does charge the battery, even during heavy use.

-My laptop is an ASUS K53E-B1, 2.3 gHz Intel i5, with 6GB RAM running Windows 10, was running windows 7 with the same problem. Updating to windows 10 did not change the problem (it is about 5 years old now).

Any thoughts?

 

Games work fine on battery but crash when plugged in

Hello guys

My laptop is a HP (Win 10, Intel i5-6200U, AMD Radeon R5 M330 2GB Graphics, 8Gb RAM)

Since last week I am facing a weird problem where my games (War Thunder, Civ6, GTA5) work fine on battery power but crash after plugging in the charger. (The laptop doesn't crash just the game becomes unresponsive). If I launch them when plugged
in, they crash after a few seconds. Steps i have already taken

1. Updated display drivers
2. Reinstalled display drivers
3. Changed power plan settings
4. Reinstalled Windows 10
5. Reinstalled the games
6. Unplugged all connected device

This is an extremely irritating issue so any assistance would be appreciated
