Windows 10: How to schedule Windows Defender offline scan and get logs?

We want to schedule Windows Defender Offline scan It seems that can not be done from the GUI - only full and partial online scans seem to be schedulable from the GUI. How can we schedule the off-line scan and how would we get a log of the results it found?

I'm trying to set up an offline scan schedule with task scheduler in Windows Defender. Can anyone tell me what the argument is for an offline scan?

This issue might occur if you have set any task scheduler for Windows Defender.

I suggest you to delete the task for Windows defender and check if it helps.

Follow the below steps:

• 
  Search and open Schedule tasks.
  
• 
  In the left-hand menu, open the Task Scheduler Library, then select
  Microsoft >Windows >Windows Defender.
  
• 
  Double-click Windows Defender Scheduled Scan.
  
• 
  Select the Triggers panel, then select Delete.

Defender Periodic Scanning or Offline Scanning?

That link does suggest it's useful to use Defender offline scanning in addition to periodic scanning and a third party real time anti virus (e.g. Kaspersky).
