Microsoft Edge Address Bar

Hi Zach,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community. We appreciate your interest in Windows 10.

I suggest you to follow the below steps to open actual address of websites with short forms as you wish:

• Open Microsoft Edge, click on More actions(...) at the right top corner.
• Click on View advanced settings, under Search in the address bar with
  click on down arrow.
• Choose <add new>, try to add the default website.

Secondly, as opening pages in new tab is set by design, I suggest you to provide this as a feedback.

Microsoft Edge: Paste URL into address bar

Been using browsers since 1994's Netscape and never thought I would be asking such a question *Biggrin

But...

I am unable to paste a URL into the Microsoft Edge address bar. It appears the issue goes back > 4 years; and although I have searched extensively for a solution, no suggestions have resolved the issue. I can paste clipboard URL into Chrome or FF or Notepad or Word or [You name the app here], but not in the Edge address bar. AND, it is not limited to the address bar; I cannot paste anything into the search bar either. I can type in either bar, just not able to paste clipboard data.

I have tried all of the following, to no avail:

1) Click in address or search bar or Ctrl + L, then Ctrl + V
2) Click in address or search bar or Ctrl + L, right-mouse click and select "Paste"
3) Settings | App | Microsoft Edge | Advanced options | Repair
4) Settings | App | Microsoft Edge | Advanced options | Reset
5) Open Edge Settings | Privacy & security | Show search and site suggestions as I type: Disable (i.e., turn off)

I have seen no other suggestions, as of yet.

Windows version: 64-bit Windows 10 1903 (clean install--new laptop; not an update from other version/build)
Edge version: 44.18362.267.0

Edge: Search in the address bar problem

Thank you!! You are right ... if I have visited a site with search engine (e.g. wikipedia, google) at least onces from Edge, afterwards you find it in the list of the available search engines!! It is quite strange ... I hope it will change in future releases
...

PS: I see that in http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/change-the-default-search-engine-in-microsoft-edge it is stated in the step-by-step instructions: "Enter the search engine’s website and browse to it".

Can you possibly give me an answer also to the other question of mine, that is how to easily select the search engine to use for a particular search (alter adding in the previous list and selected not as a defaul one), without having the need to change the
defualt one everytime (in Internet Explorer it is possible clicking near the address field)..
