    How to select large number of lines in Notepad?


    For my job, there are a few occasions where I need to select vast quantities of lines in Microsoft Notepad to copy/paste into another file or otherwise move around. I'm talking thousands or even tens of thousands of lines yet not all, so the "select all" function is no use. Whenever I do this, I highlight the first line I need and then am forced to scroll all the way down manually--and Notepad will not increase the speed one bit no matter how I position my mouse on the journey down! For so many lines, this is way too inefficient. I tried some keyboard shortcuts like Shift+Ctrl+Down which wo

    For anything from coding in many languages, to making a long document where you may want to callout certain words or phrases by line number. Just a more versatile editor.

    I’m sorry that you are experiencing this issue. To show line and column numbers in Notepad 11.

    Click on the “View” tab.

    Click on “Status Bar” to enable it.

    Move the cursor to the line you want to find the number for.

    Look at the bottom of the status bar; you will see the line and column numbers.
