How to set default on screen input method to English in surface pro 6?

I use Trad. Chinese as my display language and so I choose Chinese keyboard layout. The keyboard can switch between Trad. Chinese and English without changing the keyboard layout. However, every time I click on text field, Chinese input show first. Since I nearly type English for all purpose, I need to switch the input method every time, this annoy me very much. Is there any setting so I can keep English as my first input method while keeping Chinese keyboard layout? Thanks!

    :)

  2. Setting Handwriting Input as Default Method for Stylus or Finger Input

Hey. Following upgrade from Win8.1 to Win10 there appears to be a bar on setting handwriting input as the default method. In Win8.1 the last selected input method is kept for use next time, but in Win10 this behaviour continues for all the other methods
except for handwriting input. With Win10 when handwriting is used last the input panel resets to tablet keyboard next time.

This particular tablet does not have a pen capable screen and so does not default to handwriting input like say a Surface Pro. This Win10 behaviour makes capacitive styluses painful to use for handwriting as its appears the input panel logic settings/design
has not cater for this possibility very well, requiring a user in this situation to manually change input method to handwriting every time the input panel is invoked.

Suggestions of a fix or a workaround would be greatly appreciated.

Setting the default input method for the Windows 10 login screen

I had the same question but with French being the default on Windows 10 rather than the one I wanted so I ended up here.

HoD is very close. I was able to use his suggestion to find the solution for me. This solution uses your current display and input language to change the Welcome screen and possible for new user accounts if you want. So make sure you have the display and input settings while logged in that you want to apply to the login screen before doing the steps:

    1. Click the language on the Taskbar.
    2. Then click Language preferences.
    3. At the bottom under "Related settings," click "additional date, time, & regional settings" which opens the control panel
    4. Click the "Region" option
    5. Then go to the far right tab "Administrative". (HoD's step 2)
    6. In the "Welcome screen and new user accounts" click copy settings. (HoD's step 3)
    7. Tick "Welcome screen and system accounts" (and "new user accounts" if you want it to be applied to those as well). (HoD's step 4)
    8. Click Ok. (HoD's step 5)

I was able to use HoD's suggestion to find the solution here. It's for Windows 8.1, but works on 10 so far.

Hope it will help you, too!

How to set default on screen input method to English in surface pro 6?

How do I set this new Surface Book Pro up so the default system language is English?

Original Title - Windows 10 Language List

We recently purchased a Surface Book Pro. The person setting up the machine accidentally set the default language to French. After a bit of French to English translation (web tool) I was able to get all of the language settings back to English. However,
when I go to Settings > Region & Language the language is set to "English (United States) Windows display language (override)". On another Surface Book Pro (set up using English as the language choice) the language is set to "English (United States) Windows
display language. The "(override)" portion is not present in the second (English setup) Surface Book Pro.

Back to the Surface Book Pro set up using French. If I click on Additional date, time & regional settings > language I land on the change you language preferences page. English (United States) is the only language displayed. When I click on the Options link
(right side of the row) I see that English (United States) Window display language is listed as Enabled (override). If I click on Change override I am taken to the Advanced Settings screen where I see the Override for Windows Display Language under which is
a comment "If you want to use a display language that's different than the one determined by the order of your language list, choose it here". I then select the drop down menu and I am presented with "Use language list (recommended), francais (France), and
    English (United States).

I want to remove francais (France) from my language list, however, I have been unsuccessful in finding out how to remove the language from the Surface Book Pro. I have tried all kinds of steps suggested in multiple forums, however, in most cases when the
suggested fix says I should now see French, or francais(France), all I see is English.

Question: How do I set this new Surface Book Pro up so the default system language is English? ... or ... How do I remove the French language pack from the Surface Book Pro so I no longer get the "Windows display language (override)" message?
