    How to set MS Office Professional 2010 as default


    My friend's (Win 10) laptop says "you do not have OFFICE" installed when she tries to open email attachments. Today she installed MS Office 2010 and is still getting the same message when trying to open attachments. How can she set the newly installed 2010 edition as default.

    MS Office Professional 2010

    I need to replace my laptop soon and I want to use my MS Office Professional 2010 key on Windows 10, because I cannot afford MS Office 365 Personal £59.99 a year or £5.99 a month.

    I am retired on a State pension and want to use my MS Office Professional 2010 key on Windows 10 I already have, as I said above, is that possible? Primarily to use MSWord and MS Outlook. I don't want to be forced to buy the update.
    Will I be able to install my MS Office Professional 2010 key on MS Windows 10 on a new laptop?

    I just bought a new computer an I'm trying to install my MS office professional academic 2010 CD. It's in my programs as being added but I can't find Word. Where is it located so I can pin it to my taskbar? I did a search but it sends me to the web.

    How to set MS Office Professional 2010 as default

    Setting Office 2010 as default in Windows 10

    Hi Dina,

    Open the Settings App (gear icon on your Start Menu)

    Go to Apps - Default Apps

    Scroll down to the bottom of that page and click 'Set Defaults by App'

    Wait for the resulting list to build

    Then on the left click each Office 2010 Application and click 'Set this Program as Default' on the right hand side

    The text above the button should change to 'This program has all its defaults'
