Windows 10: How to set router for 5ghz

Hello. Just got a new Asus router rt-ax88u which is wifi 6. Son had a new pc for Christmas which is for gaming mostly, which also uses wifi 6.

I read somewhere that it's an idea to set the 5ghz channel purely for the gaming pc. But am not sure of the best way to do this on this router.

Both 2.4 ghz and 5 ghz each have 3 guest networks available on the Asus router.

On initial set up I have a main SSID for both 2.4 and 5GHz and have then set up a 5ghz guest network with WPA2 Personal security - for son to log into on the gaming PC and a 2.4ghz guest network for smart devices.

However it has occurred to me that this doesn't mean the gaming PC has sole use of 5ghz. Would it be better to set two separate SSIDs for 2.4 and 5ghz and just use the 5ghz for the gaming pc (as opposed to a guest network on 5 ghz?)

Other devices are quite basic - phones and a laptop just for surfing etc.

Thanks for your replay Mr. Jack but I have tried everything resetting my phone, router also but I have never seen my phone show the 5Ghz networks....!!! Anything else u can suggest?? It works well with the 2.5Ghz network...!! I have other phones at home which
connects to the 5Ghz network and works fine..!! It's only my 950xl which doesn't show the 5Ghz network...!!

 

Lumia 520 - WIFI not seeing router on 5GHZ band

Just got a Lumia 520 from Rogers. It has been unlocked.



When i go to the WIFI settings, it only sees the 2.4Ghz SID of my router. It does not see the 5Ghz SID. I know that the 5Ghz band on the router is broadcasting since my BB Playbook sees it and is connected to it.



Is the unit defective, or is there somewhere I need to activate 5Ghz?

How to factory reset Cisco 1700 Router

Hopefully I can help you here....its a very common thing to happen.


First, I take it you dont know the passwords for console access or telnet/ssh?

I will assume that these devices belong to you.

step 1. Plug a cisco console cable into a serial port on your pc
step 2. Plug other end into Cisco console port
step 3. Using hyperterm or putty or similar connect to the serial port
step 4. boot router, and make sure you clearly can see the output (this confirms you have good serial comms)
step 5. if this fails, adjust the comm port settings (9600, 8,1,n are the default)
step 6. now you have to do the only hard part...send the break command:

Break command list: Break Commands

Go down the list and match your OS and SW and try the sequence suggested.

If this fails several times do what I do: Install putty (free) and then to send a break so you can get into rommom just hit "ctrl-a b".
