Windows 10: How to setup an audio only HDMI?

I'm puzzled.I want to connect my AVR to my pc. My monitor is connected to a display port. (3440x1440 pixels)

That sizes is obviously not a HDMI 1.3 compatible monitor. The AVR is HDMI 1.3 so it has to be connected to a separate HDMI output.

It is possible to port the sound to the HDMI output and i have 7.1 Channels working. NICE!

Windows thinks it has a dual monitor setup and if some dumb program opens into the second screen (my AVR) then it is not visible. So I want to switch to a single monitor setup. But if i do, the hardware connection to the AVR gets lost!I only want the desktop to be smaller, i don't want to disable the hardware!!!

When will HDMI/windows recognize we also want audio only working.Is there a work arround? Registry hack. whatever

PC to TV through HDMI

Hi,

Have you tried to reconfigure your audio settings? If not, try to change your audio output settings to HDMI by following the steps below:

• Press Windows ( ) key + X.
• Select Control Panel.
• Click Hardware & Sound.
• Click Manage Audio Devices.
• Select the HDMI device listed under the Playback tab.
• Click Set as default and click Ok.

Also, we suggest to update your audio driver.

If the Digital Output Device or HDMI is not an option under the Playback tab. You can run the Hardware and Device troubleshooter by following these steps:

• Type Troubleshooting in Search or Cortana.
• Click on “View All” in the top left corner.
• Choose Hardware and Sound.
• Click Playing Audio to run the troubleshooter.

no audio in Hdmi output

It seems that the issue is due to incorrect audio settings. For help fixing audio or sound problems, try the audio troubleshooter.
It might be able to fix audio problems automatically.

Additionally, we suggest that check your audio settings. Make sure that your HDMI TV is set as your default sound device. Here are the steps:

• Click Start and in the Search box, type
  Sound.
• From the search results, click the Sound option.
• Under the Playback tab, click Speakers
• Click Set Default at the bottom.
• Click Apply and OK to save the settings.
