Windows 10: How to share folder to specific user on specific PC on the network

Hello, I have 3 PCs running Windows 10 (Home) and one of them is sharing a folder to the others. I shared the folder using Right click on the folder > Properties > Sharing > Advanced Sharing > Share this folder > Permissions > Everyone > Change (Or Full Access, depends what I need). On each of the other PCs I am using net use to mount this folder as a network drive. But I don't have a place where I can choose specific PC on the network and a specific user to allow. When I try to add a specific PC from the network using the "Add" (In the Share Permission window) - I don't see any other PC name that are on my local network under "Locations" - so how can I set a specific PC and a specific user from that PC? List specific shared folder in Network, not root folder


I share files on my home network between my desktop PC and my laptop. I often move files between the two computers by placing folders on the desktops and then working with them or moving them to specific folders. The network for my laptop lists its desktop folder, but for the desktop PC, the topline \Users root folder is listed, not the desktop. Network and sharing work just fine. But how do I list the shared PC desktop folder so that I don’t have to drill down through the \Users file structure to reach the desktop folder?

 

Sharing Folders with a specific User on Private Network

I need help in adding a specific user to the sharing of folders. The user is on my WIFI network on another Win 10 Home PC.

My wife's PC is \\XPS8500\Bonnie but when I try adding it, it is not accepted. Can you help me figure out how to add her as a sharing partner on my PC?

We both have Win 10 Home edition.

I am trying to share a specific folder lying my desktop over the network, trying to make that specific folder accessible to anyone who wants to access it without requiring them to login using the credentials of an existing user on the host PC.

However,

1. even after turning off password protected sharing in "Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network and Sharing Center\Advanced sharing settings", login credentials are still being asked on the other computer (mac) on the network.

2. suppose I login using my host PC login credentials, the entire C:\Users folder is exposed rather than the specific shared folder.

How can I get to share the specific folder

1. without login details

AND

2. also without exposing the C:\Users folder
