  1. How to show the Long Date in the taskbar instead of the Short Date? [Windows 11]

I like seeing the day of the week Wed, Thurs, etc. on my taskbar next to the date. I have always just edited the Windows short date to do this for me and to add seconds before that became a checkbox in settings, but this is not a solution for me anymore. For my job, the short date is pulled as a parameter into another program of ours for making prints, and so changing the short date format would mess up my work. I would still like to see the day of the week on my taskbar though, so it's clear to me that the solution would be to just force Windows to show the long date and then edit that to

    :)

Show long date format in taskbar in Windows 11

I found - in this tutorial - that you have to manually change the Short Date (that default-shows in the Windows 11 Taskbar) with the data you want in the Short Date-format (eg. "dddd, MMMM dd, yyyy").

I've never seen an editable field in what appears to be a dropdown-only menu [for the Short Date options] - it was a little confusing for me at first, but it works perfectly ... just like Windows 11 for the data, but the Day of the Week (ddd=short ie. "Mon"; dddd=long ie. "Monday") does not show on it's own line - minor to me, when I just want to glance ... like the old days How to show the Long Date in the taskbar instead of the Short Date? [Windows 11] ;)

update: I have also found that, after this modification to the Short Date, some programs that pull the Short Date in for display [natively] don't know quite what to do with the ddd,/dddd, part when trying to display its default mm/dd/yy-format and the program(s) (ie. Quicken) reverse the mm & dd to look like dd/mm/yy. In the big picture (and in many cultures, internationally) this dd/mm/yy-format is desired ... but it's taking me a while to get used to How to show the Long Date in the taskbar instead of the Short Date? [Windows 11] :p

Greg MVP why don't you put down your diplomas and listen for a second. I know there's that option to choose the format of the long date, and the short date.

It just isn't an option to choose the clock taskbar icon to have the long date format, it defaults to the short.
