Windows 10: How to sign in to my Administrator account unable to make any changes, including some...

I'm unable unable to make any changes, including some updates pop-up states " do you want to allow this app to make changes to you devioce? " then it states " to continue enter an admin username and password" there is no place to enter this information. this is my laptop i purchased it brand new , Edition Windows 11 Pro Version 24H2 Installed on ‎10/‎12/‎2024 OS build 26100.2894 Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.26100.36.0 how do i enter admin credentials? if im the owner why is this happening? i need help!

Unable to change my account type to Administrator and cant create a new account.

Hi Aadil,

I suggest you to activate Default Administrator and try creating a new Account with Administrative privileges. Try the below steps and check if you can create a new Account.

• 
  Press Windows key + X and select
  Command prompt(Admin).
  
• 
  Type the following command and hit
  Enter:
  

net user administrator /active:yes



Now, sign out from the current account and you will be able to see a new Administrator account. Sign in to the new Administrator Account and you may create
a new user account with administrative privileges. You can also change the current local user account to Administrator Account. Follow the below steps to change the current local user account to Administrator Account.

  Begin by right-clicking the
  Start Icon of Windows, then click Control Panel.
  
• 
  Then under User Accounts and Family Safety, click
  Change Account Type.
  
• 
  Then choose the account you wish to change, and double-click it.
  
• 
  Then click on Change Account Type.
  
• 
  Then choose the Account Type you want the user to be, you can choose between Standard and Administrator.
  
• 
  Click on Change Account Type.
  

After creating the new user account or changing the current account to Administrator Account, use the following command at the command prompt (as mentioned above) to disable the default administrator account:



net user administrator /active:no

Administrator Account

One of our user changed their administrator account to a local account. I'm trying to change it back to an administrator account, but you are always asked to sign in as the administrator. Kind of like a catch 22 situations -- does any one have a suggestion?

Unable to make user account as administrator account

I suggest you to follow the below steps on how to make your Local Account as Administrator Account.

1. Login into your Current Administrator Account.

2. Right click on Start button
and select Control Panel.

3. Select User Account.

4. Select the option Manage another Account.

5. Select the Local Account.

6. Now select the option Change Account Type
and select Administrator and click Change Account Type tab.

Steps To create new local administrator account.

• 
  In the search box type Control Panel.
  
• 
  Click on User Accounts.
  
• 
  Select Make changes to my account in Pc settings.
  
• 
  Next select family and other user
  present on the left side of the page.
  
• 
  Click on Add someone to this pc option available.
  
• 
  Now select Sign in without a Microsoft account (not recommended).
  
• 
  Next click on Local Account Tab and create a local account and click
  Finish Tab.
  

Once the local account is created, click on the local account and select
Change account type tab and select Administrator.

Your Local Administrator Account is created now. Sign out from your current account and sign in into your new Local Account.
