Windows 10: How to solve gpu error: Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer....

I've recently been having trouble with my computer, such as the brightness not changing, crashing/freezing, and having all the apps close when I turn on the computer. I've traced these issues to the GPU, which gives me error code 45: Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. Code 45. I've learned that I should select uninstall in device manager and restart my computer but I'm worried it might not reinstall them again. Should I go through with this or is there another way? I would appreciate any help.

I was having some trouble with device on my computer and went into device manager to find out if the device is working properly in device manager and it wasn't so I fixed it, but in device manager under certain devices are showing multiple devices with the same name (See below) with only a few working and the other stating "Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45), To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer."




My computer is working fine, so what is causing this to happen and should I be worried about this?

Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45)

To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer.

This error occurs if a device that was previously connected to the computer is no longer connected. To resolve this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer.

A. We need to check if there is any corruption with the hard drive that you are using.

Try these steps to run the hardware troubleshooter and check.

• Type troubleshooting in the search bar and click on troubleshooter.
• Click view all in the left panel. Select ‘Hardware and devices’ and follow the on-screen instructions.

B. You may also try the steps to uninstall the sound, video and controller drivers and check.

1. Press "Windows Logo” + “X” keys on the keyboard.

2. Click on “Device Manager” from that list.

3. Right click on the driver and then select “Uninstall”. On the un-installation window, if you have an option: “Delete the driver software for this device” Follow the on-screen
instructions to complete it and then restart the computer if prompted.

4. After the restart, please go ahead with the next steps to install the latest drivers and check if that resolves the issue.

Currently, this hardware device is not connected in Device Manager

As Helmut says, every device that was ever connected will be listed if you tick 'show hidden devices' in Device Manager, ones that are not connected currently will be greyed-out. Under Disk drives I can see every usb stick or external HDD I've ever used.

It is safe to right-click on such a greyed-out device and uninstall it, but just leaving it there will have no ill effects.
