    How to sort by name correctly in Windows 11

    In Windows Explorer there is the option to sort files by name. However, this produces very strange results.As an example, if you have files named as GUIDs and you sort them by Name I would expect the files to be ordered by the first character, starting with the numbers 0 to 9 and then the letters a to f. This would mean all the files starting with a 0 would be at the top, ordered by the second character.However, this is not the way the sort works by default. It's hard to know exactly what criteria it is using to sort but the files seem to be an some arbritrary order. The ones starting with a l

  2. directory listing file does not show Greek names correctly

    In command prompt:
    List of directory eg dir *.* lists directory file names.
    The greek file names are listed in Greek correctly. BUT when send dir listing to file eg dir *.* >c:\tmp\dirlst.txt and then openning the c:\tmp\dirlst.txt file the file names in Greek are not displayed correctly
    07/31/1997 11:37 PM 10,752 προχειρο αρχειο in GR.doc --- the correct display in command prompt
    07/31/1997 11:37 PM -----> 10,752 §¨¦®œ ¨¦ ˜¨®œ ¦ in GR.doc file in c:\tmp\dirlst.txt file

    Any idea on how to tackle with this? Thanks a lot

  3. People hub can't sort names with Aa

    Why is the People hub not able to correctly sort contacts whose names start with Aa? It seems that it sorts them under the letter after the last used letter in your contact list. (My last used letter i V, so my grandmother, whose name is Aase, is sorted
    under W) This seems like a rather obvious bug, and I wonder why Microsoft hasn't fixed it yet? (Btw, I run WP 7.8 on an Omnia W)

  4. How to sort by name correctly in Windows 11

    WP8 does not sort pictures correctly by date!

    Why doesn't WP8 sort the pictures correctly by date? I modified the EXIF files but it still will place many pictures as new so that if I imported a picture in June 1st it will sort it in June as opposed to when it was created. If someone can outline a
    step by step of how to fix this I'd greatlly appreciate it How to sort by name correctly in Windows 11 :)
