Windows 10: How to sort folders within other folders in file explorer without ripping my head off??

I don't know much about computers but I will try to be clear as possible. I need empty folders in a specific order before I start working on them and files explorer kept making it alphabetically ordered. I read something about turning "Auto Arrange" off but I did not have that option under the "view" tab. I did see the "sort by" selection and I tried both sort by "date created" & "Author" then restarted making new folders and titling them how I need. Also tried to just retype the folders that files explorer messed up the order of but no matter what I do it either order as I am naming them or I finally get it in ordered then it resets if I click out and back into it. Anyone know how I could easily arrange these folders how I want and keep it permanently like that?? thank you

Sort files AND folders by "Date Modified" in File Explorer

There is no option in Explorer to sort folders with files for any property in a regular Explorer view. So your options are:

• A third-party file manager that has this option.
• PowerShell: using a command like:
  
  gci | sort LastWriteTime
• Using Explorer's Search bar

If you type an asterisk (*) in the Search bar of an Explorer window, the results will be all files and folders in the folder
as well as all subfolders. But you can then use Group by -> Folder Path and right-click
on a Group heading and select Collapse all groups and then expand only your target folder. As with a normal Explorer view, column headers in Detail view can be clicked to sort on that column.

You can filter the folders and files in File Explorer using the Sort by option. To best address your concern, we need you to answer the following questions:

• What do you mean when you mentioned “files sorted by latest first”?
• You mentioned that you were able to perform it before, which Windows version were you using that time?
• Can you provide us a detailed description of what you would like to perform?

In the meantime, you can try the following steps:

• Go to File Explorer.
• Click the Drive where the files and folders are saved.
• Under Current view, click Sort by.
• Select Name if you would like to sort it alphabetically. Choose
  Date modified or Date created if you wanted to sort it by date. Refer to the image below.

Please take note that you can’t apply two filters at a time.

Sort File Explorer Folders on Taskbar


Is it possible to sort the file explorer folders on the taskbar ? On my PC, when I have 5 or more folders, they appear in a vertical list (see attached). Every time I restart windows I run a batch file that opens my "standard file explorer folders" minimized to the Taskbar. So I can easily switch to the desired folder. As I use the PC, sometimes the folders become unsorted. Thanks
