I don't trust people on YouTube for explanations. I trust the Microsoft community. Please help me stop unnecessary Windows services safely and without causing problems in the future.

Hi..

I have installed windows 11 one week ago, and I like the interface, its very nice.

But I'm facing a problem with:

1. Windows boot. When I turn on the computer it takes around 1-2 minutes to log into desktop. I don't think this slow from the hardware, because when I had windows 8.1 installed, the computer was logging into desktop in less than a minute.

2. Windows 11 is full of services that consume a lot of disk and ram usage. As a normal user of windows I think those services are not useful to me.

Can you guide me what unnecessary services are safely to stop.

and why the windows boot takes some time to log in.

Do you have a 3rd party security suite, or Anti-virus running on your PC?

If so, that is the usual cause of slow Windows, download the removal tool the developers of that security suite provide and uninstall it form your PC, then restart your PC and let Windows Security protect you

If you have any other utilities like a Registry cleaner or PC cleaner . . .etc. uninstall those form your PC

Turn off all unnecessary startup applications and processes:

Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager

Click on the Startup Tab

See any non-essential items are listed there

If so, select and click 'Disable'

Close Task Manager

Click your Start Button, type msconfig and hit Enter

When the System Configuration dialog opens, click on the Services Tab

Check the box marked 'Hide Microsoft Services' to ensure you do not turn off any Microsoft services

In the remaining list, see any non-essential items are listed there, uncheck any you find

Click Apply and OK

Restart your PC

 

How to identify unnecessary services and turn them off

1. Make full image backup of PC using e.g. macrium reflect Macrium Software | Reflect Free Edition – free for personal use
2. Bootracer: Download free bootracer and install Download BootRacer 8.85.2022.0427 - Free Utility for Monitoring Windows Boot Time and Detecting Slow Startup Programs!/
   1. Select startup control and optimize as needed
   2. Select Ultimate service optimizer and optimize the suggested services – requires pro version
   3. Pls. note that you should *not* select windows search service – e.g. outlook requires that
3. Autoruns: Download free autoruns from MS https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sys...loads/autoruns
   1. Select options -> hide MS entries. DO NOT touch MS services
   2. Select “logon” sheet and disable entries not required during logon
   3. Select “scheduled tasks” and disable entries not required
4. Uninstall programs you don’t need instead from settings -> apps and features
