Windows 10: How to stop an accidental download

Hello,I have a Windows 10 laptop and a couple of hours ago I accidentally downloaded what I think was a document, but I tried to stop the download in the middle of the process, though I'm not sure I succeeded. Actually, I'm afraid that I may've opened the document rather than cancelled it.I foolishly deleted the download name in File Explorer under "downloads" and then from the trash. I'm not sure whether the download was successful even though the name was there -- I can't remember the name. Is there any way now whether I can see if anything was downloaded and what even though the name was de

I have a Windows 10 laptop and a couple of hours ago I accidentally downloaded what I think was a document, but I tried to stop the download in the middle of the process, though I'm not sure I succeeded. Actually, I'm afraid that I may've opened the document rather than cancelled it.

I foolishly deleted the download name in File Explorer under "downloads" and then from the trash. I'm not sure whether the download was successful even though the name was there -- I can't remember the name. Is there any way now whether I can see if anything was downloaded and what even though the name was deleted. I looked in Programs and there is no download from today.

How does one stop an accidental download in the middle its loading? I had pressed something during a Google search and it just started to download, and that's why it's accidental.

I ran a full Windows Defender/Security scan, over an hour, and nothing was detected and then a ran a free Malwarbytes scan, only 7 minutes, and again nothing was detected.

I still would like to know what I downloaded -- I don't even know if I opened it or cancelled it - if it's possible.

A few minutes later: I just noticed that the laptop is not charging with the adapter, which I just plugged in, as I had done the security scans just on the battery because the laptop was getting too hot. Is it possible that some kind of virus was downloaded that corrupted the battery, which is just now not charging. I was charging fine right before I removed the adapter, around two hours ago.

Thanks very much lilhasselhoffer. I'll start doing what you suggested step by step.

One question thou: you suggested me to Download the latest driver package from Nvidea. However, the link you posted is for the newly released GeForce GTX 760? Am I supposed to download the drivers for that card?

Sorry for my questions. As I said, I'm not an expert at all.

 

Windows 10 Apps from the store wont download

Sorry for the delay in response.

• Do you face this issue only with these apps?
• Did you try downloading other apps?
• Did you try stopping these apps and then downloading it again?

We would suggest you to try the steps mentioned in the link

• Type troubleshooting in the search
  box and hit Enter.
• Click View all from the left pane and select Windows store apps.
• Follow the on-screen instructions and check.

If the steps don't work try these steps:

Try to reset the Windows store and check.

• Press Win + R on the keyboard to open run Window.
• Type wsreset.exe to reset the Windows store cache.
