Windows 10: how to stop apps from blinking yellow in the taskbar

I'll be using VLC media player as an example but it happens with certain messaging apps etc.Whenever an app wants attention about something status change and whatnot its icon blinks yellow on the taskbar. This wont stop until I put focus on the app, and it's very annoying to have to stop what I'm doing just to get it to stop flashing. This happens every time a new video file is played on a vlc playlist for example. I have my taskbar set to auto hide and this will cause it to reveal itself and take up my screen while I'm browsing the internet, working, etc. I already tried editing foregroundf

Taskbar icons blinking when using Chrome

We need to do further investigation on your concern so that we can identify why the Taskbar is blinking when you are using Google Chrome.

• Have you recently made any change/updates prior to this issue?
• Is the said browser pinned in the Taskbar?
• If so, have you tried unpinning it from the Taskbar?

In the meantime, we suggest that you try to run the Compatibility troubleshooter to isolate the issue. Here's how

• Right-click the Google Chrome browser.
• Click-on Properties.
• Click-on the Compatibility tab.
• Click-on the Run compatibility troubleshooter button.
• Choose Try recommended Settings.
• Click-on the Test the program button to check if it is the same.
• Hit Next, then choose the next option, depending on the results of the test.

Cursor stops blinking

By the way it seems that there is a rate of blink about applications, you can check some of them over here :

Notepad Cursor stops blinking after 5-6 blinks.
Windows Explorer Cursor stops blinking after 5-6 blinks.
Total Commander Cursor stops blinking after 5-6 blinks.
Microsoft Office 2016 Cursor stops blinking after 30-32 blinks.
Microsoft Edge, inside Google search box Cursor stops blinking after 10-11 blinks.
Microsoft Edge, inside URL bar Cursor stops blinking after 5-6 blinks.
Firefox (in URL bar, also inside web pages) The cursor did not stop after 50 blinks. Seems to work OK.

Just tried on my new computer (Windows 10) and it's the same of Worpad, maybe it's just normal *Smile

 

taskbar tranparency

I would suggest you to change the desktop themes and check if you are able to see the transparent taskbar.

If that doesn't help I would suggest you to end the explorer.exe and restart it and see if you are able to see the transparent taskbar.

Please follow the steps below to restart explorer.exe:

stop and start Explorer.exe

    Right click on the taskbar and select task manager.
    
  • 
    In the process Right click on windows explorer and end the task
    
  • 
    Restart the task by clicking on the file and select new task
    
  • 
    Type Explorer.exe and press enter.
