Windows 10: How to stop bluetooth auto-connect in Windows, year 2023? fix design flaw

Background: Once you pair a bluetooth audio device speaker / headphone / etc with your Windows-based laptop, it gets authorized to be used for audio output, is listed as a known device, and ready for connect in the sidebar interface. There are Connect and Disconnect buttons.The issue is: Windows auto-connects to any device you paired earlier at no reason, anytime; and Windows starts streaming audio to that device at whatever volume it was. This is done without user's consent, with no apparent reason, anytime you would not expect.This means you can stress your family at night; disturb your co

I can see I'm about 2 years late to the party on this thread, but YES this is a terrible, terrible design flaw. What's more, if I disconnect the device, it will just connect automatically again within seconds. Please fix the auto-connect already!

 

Bluetooth Designer Mouse Troubleshooting

I'm running WIndows 10 on a Lenovo E560 and my Microsoft Bluetooth Designer Mouse has stopped working. Some weird symptoms:

• In pairing mode, the device will appear in the Bluetooth Connection Manager, pair and connect. The mouse correctly finishes pairing mode when paired.
• However, although it appears as connected, it doesn't work.
• If the mouse is turned off, it still shows as connected in the Bluetooth Connection Manager.
• If the bluetooth in the PC is turned off, then on again, it appears as "Paired".
• If the mouse is then turned back on, it doesn't connect again.
• Other Bluetooth devices pair and connect correctly.

Any suggestions? Or is the mouse knackered?

The real problem is not auto-connect.

Auto-connect is OK but should ONLY do so if a bluetooth device is
NOT already connected to another device.

Windows 10 literally hijacks any bluetooth device that is turned on
regardless if it is already connected to another device, such as my phone.

This is either maliciously intentional or is just bad design.

And it's been years since the launch of Windows 10. I now doubt this will ever be fixed.
