Windows 10: How to stop Media Player opening when I connect my mobile phone

i try to send pictures from cell phone to computer & media player keeps opening ?i never had this problem before as i just plugin & click ok on cellphone & pictures upload to my file .why cant i upload to one-drive instead of google drive ? mike *** Email address is removed for privacy ***

I suggest you uninstall and reinstall the Windows Media Player and check. Refer to these steps:

  Click on Turn Windows features ON or OFF on the left panel.

  Expand Media Features and uncheck the box against Windows Media Player.

  Click OK and restart if prompted. Follow the same procedure and check the box against Windows Media Player to reinstall.

I then followed this advice with phone connected; auto-play setting shown was open to view in Explorer...changed that to Take no action and saved changes. Unplugged the phone then reconnected and...WMP opened up again...very annoying seeing as it has never happened before the just installed fresh Windows 10. Other thing I noticed with phone connected and opening Explorer...the icon for the A5 was like an Apple Media Player or Shuffle type device...used to show as a mobile phone before...

If your phone has stopped syncing with Media Player, I'd recommend a few troubleshooting steps:

- Firstly, try rebooting your phone and trying again.

- Try a different USB cable to connect your phone to your laptop.

- Try resetting Windows Media Player with the following steps:

- Click Start and type "apps & features".

- Select Apps & Features.

- Find Media Player in the list and select it.

- Click Advanced Options

- Click Reset.

- With your phone plugged in, try reinstalling the USB driver in device manager:

- Press Windows Key+X and choose Device Manager.

- Find your phone in the list.

- Right-click it and choose Update Driver.

- If that doesn't work, try uninstalling it and then scan for hardware changes to reinstall the driver.
