Windows 10: How to stop mutiple programs from being brought up when bringing up a minimized program

Hello Everyone,


I have an issue with Windows that has become a huge annoyance to me. Whenever I have multiple programs minimized on my pc and I want to bring one back up, it never just opens the one minimized program. It always brings up something else with it so I get 2 of the minimized programs up on my screen and it annoys the hell out of me. Does anyone know how to stop this?


I am using Windows 10 Home on a Laptop. I will not be mentioning my specs as they are not relevant. Sometimes I use multiple displays other times I do not.

Auto-minimizing of some programs, not able to bring out of minimized state

I have been have some strange issues for a while now, in that certain programs are unwilling to open in any state other than minimized. It started with Steam, not the whole program but messages from a single friend always remaining minimized. It has now
progressed to the friends list always remaining minimized as well as several other friends' messages being sometimes minimized. This morning it started happening to every Chrome page I tried to open. The page opens in minimized form and cannot be pulled up
on the screen in any way. This happens regardless of what other programs are open or how many times the program is opened. I have tried re-installing Chrome and restoring the computer to about a week ago. As this is no longer confined to a single program I
am convinced that there is a setting somewhere in Windows 10 that is causing this despite the fact that I have not been altering any settings. I have been using Windows 10 for months without significant problems, but this is getting ridiculous. Any suggests
for resolving this would be much appreciated.

 

Programs run minimized on task bar

First it was chrome then a week or so later Excel started doing it. The program open and they show on the task bar if you move the curser over them you can see that the program is open but you can not enlarge the small window the controls for enlarge and
minimize do not show only an x to close. I do not know of any software changes unless there was an update for something.

I tried the steps you outlined and they had no effect.

Thanks for the help, any other suggestions? I am lost without my excel!

 

When i minimize AA3 i cant bring it back up.

Like the title says. When i minimize Americas Army 3.0 I cannot bring it back up... it is very frustrating. What could it be? Programming issue? But do note... I have brought it back up once or twice before.
