    How to stop special character option bar from popping up when pressing character key and space


    Whenever I press and hold a key then press space I get a pop up at the top of the screen for special characters. Hitting space while holding the character causes it to cycle through them.This makes it impossible to play games on my PC. If I press and hold 'W' to move forward and try to jump it jumps once and then won't do anything in the game.This started happening after the windows 11 update. Can you please help me turn this off? I tried uninstalling the keyboard devices and restarting and that did not work.

    I find it easier to just press the key with 1 on it, instead of Alt+(numpad)49 *Wink

    Thanks for posting the information and the portable doc.

    Every Windows has Charmap in Start | Windows Accessories. It's great if you need a one time character, but not as convenient as learning the few often typed characters such as the ones Dick mentioned.

    If you want to go further with characters, beyond this thread then you should take a peek at Charmap

    First of all thank you for trying to help me. I really apreciate it.



    Now the thing is that what you're saying would be perfectly logical if every special character uses the same 8/16-bit memory space instead of 7-bit. But this happens only with first special character I enter in a message. After that any consecutive special
    character uses just one space no matter how many of them I enter.



    This is really interesting. Don't you think?



    Any words on 200.211.18 for Croatian market yet? Anybody?

    Change keyboard combination of a special character

    How can I change key-combination of special characters on a specific language keyboard?

    Example:

    On a keyboard there is a key-combination for a special character. I want to be able to:

    1. Use this key-combo for another special char.

    or

    2. Use another key-combo for this special char.

    More specifically, I want to insert Unicode 200C character (zero width non-joiner) with Ctrl+Space or Shift+Space keys.

    Is this even possible in windows 10?
