    How to stop Windows 10 from disabling monitors and changing the desktop when a different...


    When I turn off a monitor it mess up my desktop.


    When I turn on a second or third display it disables the first two and tries to move the desktop over to just the third.


    Is there some why to stop Windows 10 from doing this. I've setup the desktop the way I want and don't wan't it to change just because I turned on or off an extra display.

    Hi Baran,

    Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

    It is not possible to display 2 different Desktop screens in 2 monitors. I suggest you to refer to the following article to know more about this feature.

    Trouble with 2 monitors

    Hi Tim,

    Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

    I suggest you to change the settings to Extended Monitor and check if it helps.

    Please follow below steps:

    • Right Click any ware of the Desktop, and launch Personalization.
    • Go to dual monitor settings under personalization, and change it Extended Monitor.
