    How to stop Windows 10 Update 2004


    My computer updated to Windows 10 version 2004 which caused my computer to function at a snails pace. I uninstalled the update by "rolling back" to a previous Windows 10 version. Now my computer is operating normal using Windows 10 version 1909. However, Windows Updates has reinstalled the 2004 update and is wanting to be activated by performing another "Update and restart" on my "Power" options. How do I stop undo the pending update to 2004 so I won't accidentally perform the installation and go back to version 2004? When will it be safe to allow another update to occur?

    IMO, no.

    There is also a currently running thread here on Windows 10 2004 issues -

    Additionally, there has also been a change in how Microsoft handles attempted forced installs of the ISO on a system that has a block.

    I was able to force install it in early June, and I tested it for a couple days before rolling back to 1909.

    It will now stop the install, tell you your PC is not ready, and gracefully exit the installer.

    So that's a "tell".

    That doesn't stop windows update from grabbing them on next run, at least it didn't back in the RTM days. It simply stops a secondary process from installing them immediately.
