    How to stop windows from automatically downloading cumulative updates?


    I recently accidentally installed cumulative updates, I now uninstalled them (some I couldnt uninstall apparently) but now if I press "search for updates" you know, incase there was an update, it automatically downloads ALL cumulative downloads and I cant stop it...

    Resolution Suggestion:

    # To resolve this problem, make sure that BITS and the Automatic Updates service are started..

    A simple solution but one that works in most circumstances!

    1. Click Start, click Run, type services.msc, and then click OK.

    2. In the list of services, right-click Automatic Updates, and then click Properties.

    3. In the Startup type list, click Automatic, and then click Apply.

    4. If Service status is set to Stopped, click Start, and then click OK.

    5. Right-click Background Intelligent Transfer Service, and then click Properties.

    6. In the Startup type list, click Manual, and then click Apply.

    7. If Service status is set to Stopped, click Start, and then click OK.

    Cumulative Update for Windows 10 for x64-based Systems (KB3156387) will not install

    Maybe try with the Windows update mini-tool, found here http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/t...dows-10-automatic-updates-and-spyware.218745/ , thanks to Mussels. it installed perfectly for me last night.
