  1. How to stop windows giving pasted files shorter names and ~1 in full capitals?

Windows 10 has started renaming copied files to full capitals and shortened with a ~1 prefix,I need the files to stay the same, I have been copying and pasting the exact same files in the exact same place for a year now without problems, out of the blue windows is now doing this and I do not know how to solve it.manually renaming the files is tedious as these files are constantly edited and used, the file names need to be exact.any ideas why this has started happening and how I can fix it?thanks.

    :)

  2. File Names Changing to All Capitals

I just tried some Save as in Excel, one time the suggested save file name was in Capitals tried 3 other files they were in proper case. Went back to original file and now that was in proper case!

I note that when suggesting Capitals some of the file path had changed to Capitals as well.

  3. File Names Changing to All Capitals

I am finding that my files are changing to all capitals without me doing this, I then have to rename them back to proper case. I have had instances where a file is saved in proper case and then when I save it again it saves in capitals; I then have two files
with the same name that is not supposed to be possible.

Is there anyway of stopping this happening?

File Names Changing to All Capitals

The Windows file system does not allow duplicated file names. Your names probably have hidden characters. To find out, please do this:

    1. Mark the code below, then press Ctrl+C to copy it. Note that it extends over two lines.
    2. Press the Windows key+R
    3. Press Ctrl+V to paste the code line.
    4. Press Enter, then Enter again.
    5. Upload the desktop file Dir.txt to some cloud storage, then post the link here.

    cmd /c dir "P:\My Documents\Orienteering\Kempshott\Nov_2019" > "%UserProfile%\Desktop\Dir.txt" & pause
