Windows 10: How to swap an old HDmonitor with a new 4K monitor in a dual monitor setup and apply same...

Hi In a dual monitor setup, I have recently changed from having one 4k monitor and one regular HD monitor to having two 4k monitors. However, in my display settings, the new monitor shows as if it is the old HD monitor in terms of resolution, and I cannot change to a 4k resolution for the second monitor. It is as if it insist on remembering the old HD monitor and cannot detect and adapt to the new 4k monitor that has been plugged in replacing the old HD monitor. I use a ThinkPad docking station, where both my monitors are plugged in via HDMI cables, and the PC is connected via USB-C. Both my 4

Dual Monitor Setup issues - 4k and 1080p combination

The issue is worse than it seems at first. I have a 4k display (200%) scaling and a 1080p display (100% scaling) and even office apps look blurry on the 1080p display. If I unplug the 4k display and reboot the problem goes away. I believe the problem is
present on all apps and is a system issue. It's been suggested that to get the 100% scaling everything on both monitors is generated at 200% and then the part on the 1080p display is downsampled to 100%, resulting in the poor quality.

As it is Windows 10 is almost unusable with a very different DPI dual monitor setup.

 

Issue with windows and a new 4K monitor.

I just got a new 4K monitor and was all excited to get this up and running as it's a big upgrade from my 8 year old 1080p one. When I plug the new monitor in, windows font and images as well as google chrome or anything else I use seem a little fuzzy. I run a dual monitor setup and the side monitor is still a 1080p and if I look at the same thing on the 1080p it looks way more crisp.

When I go to display settings I set the resolution to 4k, but windows "recommends" 1080p (see image). I don't understand why it recommends that--as if it doesn't recognize the monitor is 4k? If I switch the resolution to the 1080p it looks more crisp and the blurriness resolves.





Any suggestions? I've spent hours tinkering with scaling, adjusting the 'cleartype' text options, making sure gfx card drivers are up to date, installed monitor drivers and no luck.

Monitor: Samsung S28AG70.

Gfx card: Nvidia RTX 2080 TI

I'm using an HDMI cable which is supposedly rated for 4k@60FPS. I've ordered a displayport cable in the hopes that might make a difference but it's not here yet.

Dual Monitor Setup issues - 4k and 1080p combination

I'm writing this post with regard to some issues I'm having with my dual monitor setup. My main monitor is a 4k screen on my recently purchased ASUS ROG GW501 laptop, my second monitor is a generic Samsung fullHD monitor. I've been trying to use these as
a combination setup but Windows 10 seems to have some major issues with the dpi scaling in a setup like this.

Not all programs but some such as Photoshop look huge on my second monitor, so do icons and text appears fuzzy. The scaling issues don't happen for all software, skype for example seems to look fine on both monitors.

Does anybody know if there is a way to fix these issues, upon searching the internet I've seen numerous people complaining about this problem but no true solutions. Can anybody confirm whether windows supports a setup like this in any way?
