Windows 10: How to switch to intergrated graphics without display

My gpu mysteriously stopped working which was noticed while I was gaming. I checked out task manager and saw that my graphics card wasn’t detected and wasn’t in use. Me being foolish, went to bios and disabled Optimusallows for switching to integrated graphics when not using high performance tasks. This forces the 3070 to mobile to be used . When switching out of bios I was met with a black screen as I’m using a currently using a broken gpu. I’m currently on an m15 r7 Alienware laptop. I need to be able to switch to integrated graphics or disable the other gpu. If there are any other ways to

I understand your concern and will guide you in the right direction.

I suggest you to refer the steps below to switch between the graphic drivers.

a. Press Windows + X.

b. Select device manager.

c. Click on Display adaptors
and expand.

d. Here you can switch the graphic drivers by disabling the driver.

e. Right click on the Intel driver
and disable it to switch to AMD driver.

Now follow the steps to check which graphic driver is used in the system.

1. Press Windows + r.

2. Type dxdiag.

3. Then under display, Check the name of the graphic driver.

Strange Graphics Issue

Hello. I had an issue a while back where there was a driver issue and what it caused were graphics glitches and ghosting of other parts of the display. It wasn't as bad as yours, mine was more flickering. Anyway, I was told it was due to the order drivers were installed, and it was due to the switching between processor and GPU. I never solved the issue, I jsut dissabled intergrated graphics. In your case, I would dissable intergrated graphics and see what happens. Seeing as your issue starts when I assume the GPU has started up, maybe try dissabling that too with intergrated activated.

according to laptop support page they do list an old downloadable driver for intel for windows 7 , weather this is related to there being several variants of that laptop or this laptop has switchable graphics i may just suggest you reset the bios and see if things change , if yes you may be able to apply step 2 , if not then apply step 4 and call it today , you are still better off being on the high performance gpu .

Out of curiosity can you take a snap shot from Settings > System > Display. Scroll down and click the “Graphics Settings” ?
