Windows 10: How to sync to OnceDrive without original files being replaced with shortcuts?

My computer's "Documents" folder contains 190GB and "Pictures" 222GB of files 412GB total. They are not currently being synced to OneDrive.By default, if I tell OneDrive to backup and sync my Windows 10 "Documents" and "Pictures" folder, it will MOVE all the files to OneDrive and replace them on my PC with a shortcut to the file on OneDrive.I do not want the original files deleted from my hard disk nor have to download all 412GB again after marking them "Always keep on this device".How do I sync the Windows "Desktop", "Documents" and "Pictures" folders to OnceDrive without the original files

I would suggest you to try the following steps and check if that helps.

• Go to the folder C:\Windows\System32 and sort by file type.
• Look for the screensaver file type (.scr).
• Find the file scrnsave.scr(you can choose any of the screensavers).
• Right click and select send to>desktop (create shortcut). The shortcut on my attachment, but when i click on it my screen goes off and on and nothing else.

 

Is there any way to get the original icons to display again after the shortcuts are moved into a folder?

Please be informed, the view of files, folders, shortcuts etc. will be set to small icons by default, due to which you will not be able to see the shortcut's icon.

I suggest you to follow these steps:

• 
  Click on View
  menu in the menu bar.
  
• 
  Select either of these options
  medium, large or extra-large icons and you will be able to see the icon of the shortcut.

How to pin app shortcut to desk top?

I suggest you to follow below steps to change pin the apps on the desktop screen and check if it helps.

Step 1: I suggest you to perform the below steps to add the apps on desktop.

• Click on the “Start button” and locate the App that you want to pin to Desktop.
• Right click on the “App” and click on “More options”.
• Then click on “Open File location” and right click on the app, click on “Send to” option.
• Then select “Desktop (Create shortcut)”.
• Go to “Desktop” and check whether the app is located or not.

Or Step 2: To add shortcuts to the desktop

• Press and hold or right-click the desktop, tap or click New, and then tap or click Shortcut.
• Enter the location of the item or tap or click Browse to find the item in File Explorer.
