  1. How to tell OneDrive to STOP download everything to it, and just download in HDD/SSD?!

I am starting to hate OneDrive (maybe because i really don't know how to use it right)

for some reason when every i download something like a software or a images, its away go to onedrive. its usefully in some way but because of that its full of stuff that dose not really need to be in there. stuff like games/software/apps (desktop), thus dose not need to be in there. drawings and notes so on i want to keep a copy of in it.

i don't know how to tell it to remove from OneDrive BUT keep it in my HDD or SSD, but so far when i try 'Manage folder backup' then ' Stop backup' everything on my desktop was gone (i did got it back). because of that i believe some of the files are only in my OneDrive and not in my hard drive (maybe not but i don't know much).

all i want to do is download/save a file or something its go to my hard drive and not my OneDrive, and if i want its to been in the OneDrive then i can just move it or make a copy to the OneDrive.

and can i delete some stuff from OneDrive but still keep it in my hard drive somehow?

TL;DR Can i delete stuff from OneDrive but keep in hard drive, how to stop download/save to OneDrive and keep in hard drive.

    Internet Downloads

Thanks all for the useful suggestions, i certainly can understand the idea of refreshing downloads. I wish Firefox had that little button lol. Now i'll try and download Warrock (a great FREE game) with download manager though (annoyingly) firefox is now downloading without buggering up!
I just did a few spyware scans which though didn't stop the probs it probably did stop all thoses bloody programs from using the internet and slowing it down.

  3. Windows 10 - OneDrive

Right click on the app and one of the properties has an option to not automatically start it. Uncheck, restart the computer, and it should stop. If you want to go another step further, find the OneDrive app in the start menu, right click on it and uninstall.

If that is still insufficient, there is a batch uninstaller for OneDrive available online. I can copy the code here if you need it.

How to tell OneDrive to STOP download everything to it, and just download in HDD/SSD?!

Storage setup with a SSD and HDD

    Hi

I have just purchased an HP Pavillion Desktop with a 256GB SSD and 2TB HDD, I have initialised windows, choosing to use OneDrive for backup and storage (I have 1TB cloud storage with 365) and also updated windows and drivers. I have not transferred
any data from my old pc yet.

I now wish to setup the pc to have the operating system and program files on the SSD as they are currently and all my Files/Pictures/Music etc on the HDD but I am unsure of the correct procedures and order in which to carry them out. I also want to
continue using OneDrive for backup and file access from other devices.

I am aware of the following:

    • The OneDrive folder is currently on the SSD and is backing up the default Desktop, Documents and Pictures. I wish to move this folder to the HDD but I am not when to do this, looking at the steps below, to prevent any sync issues
    • I know I can move my user folders, Documents, Pictures etc to the HDD by changing the location of these from C: (SSD) to D: (HDD), leaving the User/Username folder on C:
    • I have also noticed that in Settings/System/Storage I can 'change the location where new content is saved' for these folders, what is the difference between this and moving the location of the folders as detailed above.

Can anyone advise on the best/correct method of setting my system up going forward?

    Thanks
