Usb microphone problem with audio and sound on windows 11

If you're experiencing issues with your USB microphone on Windows 11, specifically with delayed audio and faulty recording, here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

1. Update USB Drivers: Ensure that your USB drivers are up-to-date. Outdated or incompatible USB drivers can cause various connectivity and performance issues. Visit your laptop manufacturer's website or the USB controller manufacturer's website to download and install the latest drivers.
   
2. Check USB Port: Try using a different USB port on your laptop. Sometimes, certain USB ports may have compatibility or power delivery issues. Use a USB port directly on your laptop (avoid using USB hubs or extensions) to see if it resolves the problem.
   
3. USB A to C Dongle: If your laptop has only USB-C ports and your USB microphone uses a USB-A connector, using a USB A to C dongle may be necessary. However, make sure the dongle is of good quality and supports data transfer and audio capabilities.
   
4. Adjust Sound Settings: Check your sound settings in Windows 11 and ensure they are configured correctly for your USB microphone:
   
   • Right-click on the speaker icon in the taskbar and select "Sound settings."
     
   • Under "Input," select your USB microphone and make sure the volume level is appropriate.
     
   • Click on "More sound settings" > "Playback" > "Properties" > "Advanced" and check if any enhancements are enabled. Disable any enhancements and test the microphone again.
     
5. Disable Exclusive Mode: Some applications or system settings might be using exclusive control over the audio device, causing conflicts and latency issues. To disable exclusive mode:

No microphones work in Windows 11

On my relatively new Windows 11 laptop, no microphone works (anymore). Apps appearantly don't receive any audio data. Microphones did work fine before, but not anymore. Audio output works fine.

Apps affected:

• Microsoft Teams for Work (no audio is sent in calls)
  
• Windows Sound Recorder (when starting a recording, time is stuck at 0:00, and the app crashes when stopping the recording)
  
• System settings app (microphone test)
  

Microphones affected:

• Bose QC45 Bluetooth headset
  
• Realtek PCI notebook integrated microphone
  
• Generic USB audio adapter (USB <-> audio jack)
  
• Jabra USB microphone
  

The external microphones work fine with a different Windows 10 laptop.

In System settings, permissions to access the microphone are granted to all relevant apps.

In System > Sound > Properties, when clicking "Start Test", the sound volume is always 0%.

All Windows updates are installed.

I think there must be a fundamental problem in Windows' sound system. How can I fix this?

 

External Microphone not recognised

1. Check Connections:
   
   • Ensure that the microphone is properly connected to your laptop using both the USB power cable and the 3.5mm audio cable.
     
   • Try different USB and audio ports to rule out any issues with specific ports.
     
2. Driver Installation:
   
   • Make sure you have the necessary drivers installed for the external microphone. Sometimes, devices require specific drivers to function properly. You can typically find these drivers on the manufacturer's website.
     
3. Device Manager:
   
   • Open Device Manager by right-clicking on the Start button and selecting "Device Manager."
     
   • Look for any entries related to your external microphone. It should appear under "Audio inputs and outputs."
     
   • If you see the microphone listed, make sure it's enabled and up to date. You can right-click on it and choose "Enable" or "Update driver."
     
4. Sound Settings:
   
   • Right-click on the speaker icon in the taskbar and select "Open Sound settings."
     
   • Under the "Input" section, make sure the external microphone is selected as the default recording device.
     
5. Privacy Settings:
