Windows 10: How to transfer license if my old computer is damaged?

My old laptop suffered an accident and it was totally damaged.I’m used to maintain a full backup of Windows installation stored as disk images. I restored the last images to a new laptop and it worked, after drivers updates and other adjustments, but now I get the Activate Windows messages after a day using my new system.I can’t follow the usual procedure as described https://www.kapilarya.com/how-to-transfer-windows-10-license-to-another-computer because the old laptop is destructed.I’m wondering if I can:Restore the last disk images I have as explained to some hard drive, then boot windows u

Transferable license

I transferred a digital license from my old computer to the new one. Then I removed my old PC from the list of devices in the Microsoft account. My question: will the license be removed from the Microsoft account when I remove the old PC that had this
license before?

The Windows 10 Pro upgrade would be tied to the old computer and is not transferable. I believe it will be necessary to purchase Windows 10 Pro.

Try the following steps:

To upgrade, select the Start button, then select Settings >
Update & security > Activation.

• If you have a digital license for Windows 10 Pro, and Windows 10 Home is currently activated on your device, select
  Go to Store and you'll be prompted to upgrade to Windows 10 Pro for free.
• If you have a digital license for Windows 10 Pro, but Windows 10 Home isn't activated on your device, select
  Troubleshoot, and then follow the steps to upgrade to Windows 10 Pro.
• If you don't have a digital license for Windows 10 Pro, Windows 10 Pro is available for purchase from the Store.

Uninstalling a product key does not deactivate the license, there is actually no deactivation method. You would still need to contact support to actually invalidate the license on the old machine, so it can reactivate on the new machine.

Transferring the license is a step by step process.

First, you either remove the license from the machine by formatting it.

Install it on the new machine.

Contact chat support, then reactivate.

Where Digital license is handy is when you are still using the machine and reinstall Windows 10 and need to reactivate the license after a significant hardware change, such as a hard disk.
