    How to transfer programs and files from removed hard drive


    Computer is completely inoperable. I removed its hard drive and put it in a docking station and want to move programs and their files to my new computer. So, do I copy as a zip file or some other way? And where do I paste on new machine drive? C-drive? I'm transferring from Windows 10 to 11, by the way.

    Hi,

    I would suggest doing both, transfer first all the program and files to an external hard drive to assure that you will have a backup and not lost program and files then transfer it to new. If you only need to transfer or move the program files and not
    the program itself, you can locate the folder file that contains all of the program information and copies it to an external drive. If the program will not operate from the external hard drive, it is tied into the computer registry of the initial computer
    and cannot be circumvented. If that is the case, only the data files for the program can be used from the external drive.

    need hard drive transfer tool/program

    anyone know any programs that can transfer your data to another drive, im assuming they work on cd or floppy or usb

    i have a new motherboard coming to accompany this x3 720BE so i need to reinstall my OS, what i want to do is move all of this hard drive to another one so i can format this one and so a clean install

    i will then pick and choose files from the other hard drive, like saves and music and then i can see what programs i had and reinstall them too

    its roughly 250gb of data i have

    so i want to move all this data to another drive and im assuming you cant just simply copy and paste everything while using the OS and drive

    Free hard drive backup/restore program?

    I am looking for a free (freeware) program that will back up and restore a hard drive. I'm looking to clone a few external hard drives. If the program will backup the used space instead of the whole drive this will be awesome! Thanks for any suggestions.
