Windows 10: How to Troubleshoot Freezing and automatically restarting

Hello all,


I have had a problem over the last week or so with my desktop and Windows where it will just freeze all of a sudden, then it will just shutdown instantly and start booting back up. I have run Memory and HD tests without any issues, but Event Viewer is showing no errors that I can find other than "The previous system shutdown was unexpected." Is there anything else I can do to troubleshoot this problem that I keep having with my Windows desktop?

The tutorials provided are just a list of troubleshooting steps. Use only the steps which apply to you.

Since none of the troubleshooting steps here worked, I'd suggest you do a Clean install.

Thank you john for all of your help i decided to get the usb my computer came with and factory reset it i didnt have anything that personal or valueable so its ok thanks for the help though i appreciate it

 

laptop doesnt boot automatically

This is what happened.

1. Did a repair install and later disabled hibertnate in CMD.
2. Enabled legacy option ROM in BIOS.
3. After a few times startup ( i used the system in such mode for 5 days), changed boot option back to default.
4. Vola!! It boots automatically to win10 without any keypress. Tested it with many starts to confirm the same.
5. Re-enabled hibernate option using CMD and later selected Fast Startup.
6. System booted normally, without the need for any keypress.

I do not know exactly whether such steps resolved the problem or what else happened, hence cannot suggest above steps.
