Windows 10: How to turn down brightness all the way while still using the computer?

Hello all,



Got a 2019 XPS 15 a while ago.

Had a mac book pro before, happy with the switch, but i miss the ability to turn down the brightness all the way down while i work. I'm a student, so I do a lot of typing, and on the macbook i enjoyed the setting it had of being able to type with a completely dark screen so my eyes can rest. Unfortunately i dont know a way to do so with this computer which has windows 10? Any ideas? Thanks a lot.

• Aside from the suggested resolution in this thread, what other troubleshooting steps have you done so far to resolve the issue?

Some computers can let Windows automatically adjust screen brightness based on the current lighting conditions.

To manually adjust the screen brightness, we suggest following these troubleshooting steps:

• Click Start, then select Settings.
• Choose System, then select Display.
• Under Brightness and color, move the Change brightness slider to adjust the brightness.

To adjust the brightness, see the steps below:

• Go back to Power Options, and tick on the High performance.
• See if you can adjust the brightness.

If this not work, we highly suggest that you create an Administrator account, and re-do the steps above.
