    Thank you for replying

    >This prompt should only appear if you're Closing OneDrive from the OneDrive icon in the System tray.

Yes, this is what I do.

    >You should have OneDrive configured in it's Settings on the Settings tab to Start with Windows and it should never be closed

I disabled start with windows as I don't use it daily. I only sometimes use OneDrive to upload some files I don't need any more for archival purposes so I rarely access them. I know what I am doing when closing OneDrive so that warning prompt is not necessary
    every time.

  3. Windows 10 - OneDrive

Right click on the app and one of the properties has an option to not automatically start it. Uncheck, restart the computer, and it should stop. If you want to go another step further, find the OneDrive app in the start menu, right click on it and uninstall.

If that is still insufficient, there is a batch uninstaller for OneDrive available online. I can copy the code here if you need it.

how to turn off "are you sure you want to close onedrive?" prompt when closing onedrive

Hi Ma. I'm Greg, an installation specialist, 10 years awarded Windows MVP, and Volunteer Moderator, here to help you.

This prompt should only appear if you're Closing OneDrive from the OneDrive icon in the System tray. See the example shown in Fix 2 here:

    https://thegeekpage.com/onedrive-sync-problem-i...

This is totally unnecessary to do. You should have OneDrive configured in it's Settings on the Settings tab to Start with Windows and it should never be closed unless you want to unlink it from Windows for an important reason like reinstalling Windows, and
that is a separate operation done from the Settings > Account tab.

If this is not what you are doing and you're still getting the prompt you mentioned, then please explain more. If you're uploading files via the Onedrive.com website then know that this also is unnecessary as it's much easier and more seamless to do this in
    the OneDrive folder in Windows.

Also be aware OneDrive may have made changes to Settings without your knowledge, so go over them now to decide if they are what you want:

If the Folder Protection Backup is chosen in OneDrive Settings > Backup Tab, then Documents, Desktop and/or Pictures folders will be moved into the OneDrive folder to sync to OneDrive and (if you want) your other devices. See Folder Protection details here
to change this or read more:

    https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/116029-turn...

Then there is another setting for Pictures in OneDrive Settings > Backup > Automatically Save Photos & Videos to OneDrive.

Also in Windows Settings > Devices > Autoplay make sure each Device listed is changed in the dropdown menu to Save to Photos app, not Onedrive.

Another setting designed for smaller hard drives removes files from the hard drive and stores them only in the cloud if Files On Demand is chosen in OneDrive Settings. This feature is described here:

    https://www.pcworld.com/article/3233488/windows...

If you don't want Files on Demand then after disabling it, allow it to download all the files back to the hard drive before disabling Backup Folder Protection.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.
