Windows 10: How to turn off Auto Convert from NEF to JPG

I mistakenly selected to convert NEF to JPG when I was transferring files from my flash drive to my laptop. I would like to end this automatic conversion. I would like to keep both the NEF & JPG files when I transfer to my laptop so I can edit the NEF files.

I would like to inform you that RAW pictures are high-quality, uncompressed files that differ by camera manufacturer. Some common file name extensions for RAW picture files include: .cr2, .crw, .dng, .nef, .orf, .rw2, .pef, .arw, .sr2, .srf, and .tif.

You can view RAW pictures in Windows Explorer or Photo Viewer if you have the right codec for your specific camera installed on your PC. If you’re having problems seeing your RAW files,
I would suggest you to use any converter to convert the format and then try to open in Photo App.

When downloading files from my Nikon taken in RAW format, they down load as NEF files. Is there a way to convert multiple files to JPEG (or other formats) without having to download external converter software that may be unsafe?
