Windows 10: How to turn off highlighted current app on taskbar Windows 10

On the taskbar, when an app is currently in use, it is highlighted on the taskbar with a tiny line over it visible on the desktop even when the taskbar is hidden. I've attached a screen capture to show it. 1-Taskbar open with current app highlighted. 2-Taskbar hidden with current app highlighted still showing highlighted line above app on screen. I need to turn this highlighting off. For those with OLED monitors/screens having that highlight line visible on the screen causes burn-in.Microsoft should allow a setting to turn current in-use app highlight off for this VERY important reason. A

Problems with upgrade to Windows 10. Reader app wont highlight text

  When you try highlighting do you get any error message?
  

Meanwhile I suggest you to try app troubleshooter, kindly follow the steps below:

a) Type troubleshooting in the Search Box present on the Task Bar.

b) Select Troubleshooting.

c) Select View all on the top left corner.

d) Run Windows Store App troubleshooter.

If the above method does not help then kindly reinstall the
reader app.

To reinstall the reader app kindly follow the below steps:

• Right click on the reader app
• Select uninstall
• After uninstallation is finished kindly download the same from windows store

Multiple displays taskbar icon highlight problem

In the current Windows 10, when I connected multiply displays, the taskbar icons only shew clearly in the main taskbar that they were opened. Although some apps were running in the second display, their icons were not highlighting unless the window was
activated. I couldn't know whether the apps were running or not without checking the main taskbar. That's really terrible. The icons should be highlighted in the display where they were running. Is there anyway to change this behavior? Or it's just some problem
with my system?

• What exactly happens when you press Alt+Tab keys from the keyboard to switch between the apps?
• Have you made any changes to the operating system prior to this issue?
• What are the troubleshooting steps you have tried to resolve the issue?

As you said Taskbar is not working, and you will minimize all the opened apps to access the one you wish to from Taskbar. Be clear with how exactly you are trying to accessing the apps from Taskbar.

Step 1: I suggest you to check if you have enabled the Auto-hide option for Taskbar, if so try to disable and check if it helps.

Steps to enable auto-hide Taskbar:

• Right click in the empty space on the Taskbar, click on
  Properties,
• Under Taskbar tab, uncheck the Auto-hide the Taskbar option, click on
  Apply and Ok.

Step 2: I suggest you to install all the pending updates on your device.

• Connect to the internet.
• Press Windows key and type
  updates.
• Click on Check for updates.
• Under Windows Updates, click on
  Check for updates.
• Try to install the updates being shown.
