Windows 10: how to turn off prompt: "shortcut refers to has been changed or moved, so this shortcut...

Sometimes a file may need to be replaced and when a user desktop contains a shortcut pointing to that file, and if the user then attempts to use that shortcut, he may see the prompt: "The item" filename.ext "that is shortcut refers to has been changed or moved, so this shortcut will no longer work properly." "do you want to delete this shortcut?" and when the user clicks yes. That may trigger a call for a pc tech to have to go recreate that shortcut. I know I get it, the user probably should not have attempted to click on the shortcut when the file was not available, but the OS apparently is n

Shortcut changed or moved.

I installed Riverpoint Writer, an add-in program that runs with Word, on my PC with Windows 10. When I open the desktop shortcut I get this message:

"The item 'Riverpoint.dot' that this shortcut refers to has been changed or moved so this shortcut will no longer work properly."

I have deleted the shortcut, uninstalled the program and started over several times. I also downloaded registry cleaning software and scanned my computer. I still can't get a shortcut for this program to open. What is causing the problem and how can
it be corrected?

 

"Internet ADSL" shortcut keeps reappearing

I have a very odd problem, I've just re-installed Vista x64 and the shortcut to connect me to my ADSL internet always recreates itself on bootup. I'm sure there must be a registry tweak or something to stop it doing it.

Here's what I've tried:

• Reinstalling ADSL modem drivers
• Deleting shortcut every time
• Deleting connection and recreating connection
  
  

Also it doesn't remember any of my settings associated with this connection. I have unchecked "Prompt me for name, and password..." and changed redialling options lots of times but when I restart the PC the shortcut has recreated itself and my preferences have been reset to default! *Confused

Any ideas?

 

Windows 10 shortcut key not working - Please help

Hey guys,

I'm trying to create a shortcut key for a program/script that turns off my monitor. I've confirmed that the small program is working by double clicking on it. The problem I'm having is that when I go to create a shortcut key for it. First I create a shortcut to the program, then I set a shortcut key, say "ctrl-shift-s". After applying the changes, clicking Ok, I try to use the shortcut by pressing the ctrl-shift-s key combination. When I do this, nothing happens. I've confirmed that shortcut keys works with other apps like the Command Prompt. Does anyone have any insight to this?
