Windows 10: How to type £ symbol using us keyboard on Windows 11 login screen?

Long story short: Password was automatically generated and contained £ symbol. No problem when cut'n'paste is available i.e. once logged in. My machine has just been moved to a new MDM which uses those Okta credentials for it's initial log into Windows. Problem: I have a US keyboard with no £ symbol, therefore unable to proceed past the Windows 11 login screen. I've tried the Alt156, Alt0163, Numlock, holding down the $ key, the # key etc.. The on-screen keyboard equally doesn't appear to offer a solution. Any ideas or solutions?ThanksChris

resetting keyboard symbols

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

I would suggest you to remove English UK and just have the default English US under keyboard input language and check.

Step 1:To keep English US as the default input language and to remove other installed services

a. Type Settings in the search bar and click on the setting symbol on the top right.

b. Click on Time and Languages.

c. Click on Region and Languages.

d. Under the languages tab.

e. Click and Change the language to English US.

Step 2:Use on screen keyboard to type the characters (@, “)

To use on-screen keyboard, follow the steps below.

a. Click on Start; type “On-screen” without quotes and hit Enter.

b. Now check if you’re able to get right characters.

Using keyboard to type symbols

Can someone tell me how to type the symbol for the Russian Ruble using the keyboard on my laptop ?

I had a list of symbols and icons that one could write years ago but I lost it and can't find it using Google.

Laptop Keyboard symbol error

Hi. My laptop keyboard has gone mad!!!
A lot of the symbol characters have swapped around eg

the "?" is now on the "_" button!

the "&" is the "/" button

the Hashtag is a £ sign and others have moved. Its a nightmare to type!

I have tried and it did Not work....

• Updated keyboard driver
  
• Uninstalled keyboard driver and restarted
  
• Changed Language to German
  
• Changed language back to English UK
  

Something worked temporarily was I changed keyboard to Irish Qwerty BUT when laptop went to sleep all symbols wrong again!

Changed back to English uk qwerty and works until asleep!!

I am running Windows 11 home edition.

Please Please any suggestions?
