Windows 10: How to uninstall device completely by windows api

I know that there are two ways to uninstall a device when I right click on it in the device manager. One is the context menu, and the other is the properties window beyond that. I would like to achieve the latter process and the exact same process with the Windows API. Does anyone know? Windows 10 Pro 1909 18363.1316

Uninstalling a driver completely

There can be some cases where a driver becomes corrupted which can lead to many of the issues like BSODs, Device not working properly etc. To troubleshoot this issue, completely removing the driver from the System and reinstalling the latest one helps.

This article is in 2 parts-one Uninstalling the Device driver and second is to reinstall the device driver.

Uninstalling the Driver

To completely remove the driver, please follow the below steps:

For Windows 10/8.1

• Right Click Start Button and Select Device Manager

For Windows 7

• Open Run by Pressing Windows key+R Simaltaneously.
• Type in Diskmgmt.msc and Press Enter.
• On the new Window that opens, Device Manager Window opens that shows every device installed on your computer.
• 
  
  
• To uninstall the driver from your computer, expand the respective category. For example, I am here uninstalling my Bluetooth Driver.
• Do this for the driver you are told to. Expand the List:

• Now, the next step is to uninstall the device. For that, right-click the Device and click Uninstall.
• 
  
  
• On the new Window, Check the box, delete the device software for this device and click Uninstall.
• 
  
  

• Reboot the Computer.

Reinstalling the device

• To get the newest copy of the driver available, head over to the manufacturer website and download the newest copy of the driver available. The
  Driver Reference Table also lists the device driver websites but it is recommended that you go to the manufacturer website for getting the latest drivers.

Follow either of these steps to fix the issue with the Active window hiding behind.

Method 1:
I suggest you to disable window by hovering over it with the mouse and check if it helps. To do so I suggest you to try the below given steps and check if it helps:

1. Press Windows key + X key and click on Control Panel.
2. Select or click Ease of Access.
3. Click or tap onEase of Access Centre.
4. Click on Make the Mouse Easier to Use was uncheck Activate Window by hovering over it with the mouse.
5. Check if issue is resolved.

Method 2:
I would suggest you to completely uninstall the touchpad driver and reinstall it. Kindly follow the below given steps.

1. Press “Windows key + X” and click on “Device Manager”.
2. In the list of devices, you should see the touchpad drivers.
3. Right click on the device and then select "Uninstall".
4. In the uninstall dialog, make sure you select the option to delete the driver package from the system. This causes the driver package installed earlier to be deleted.
5. In the Action menu of Device manager, select “Scan for Hardware changes” option. This will cause the device driver to be reinstalled. Once the driver is installed, close all windows and restart the computer.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.
