Windows 10: How to untangle OneDrive from my new laptop?

I just setup a Windows 10. I guess I might have opted for a one drive backup mistakenly.

I have been using onedrive for personal files that I can access across different OS and devices for a while. Now however this has been affected in the sense that now my desktop and other folder that is supposed to be on my computer C:\users\xyz\desktop is now saved via onedrive [C:\users\xyz\onedrive\desktop], this is making my onedrive and computer unnecessarily messy.

I intend to run this as a simple offline windows machine and only backup important files as and when I choose. I went to settings and stopped backups for desktop and other folders that I could. this created a file where are my files .lnk in almost every folder adding to even more messiness on my computer. Also now I am concerned that there are double copies of the desktop and other folders on onedrive and PC and would deleting one affect the other.

Now please advise me what exact changes can I make to be able to seperate the basic machine OS from onedrive. Also advice me if I can delete these files in onedrive that came as a result of this merging after the separation and is it ok if I delete the where are my files .lnk.

I dont intend to completely remove OneDrive. Just use onedrive as if it were a specific folder to store what I choose to access online, rather than one in which everything on my laptop runs is stored.

Windows 10 - OneDrive

Right click on the app and one of the properties has an option to not automatically start it. Uncheck, restart the computer, and it should stop. If you want to go another step further, find the OneDrive app in the start menu, right click on it and uninstall.

If that is still insufficient, there is a batch uninstaller for OneDrive available online. I can copy the code here if you need it.

I'm happy with it. I just wish my second core wasn't so sensitive. I think my first core would be happy at 2.8. My only suggestion is looking on ebay. Sometimes there are some on auction that give you the steppings. That's how I found mine from tr740. He had it on auction w/ steppings. I paid around 165. Great deal, when you know your getting a brand new cpu with a great stepping.

 

W10 Mobile Lumia 830 Backup Not Being Saved to OneDrive

I understand I can not see what is contained in the backup stored on OneDrive, but I should see them listed. In my case there is not one being stored at all even though the phone reports it has backed up. See screenshots from OneDrive from my phone logged
into the same account the phone is and the backup settings page above. Without the backup on OneDrive my restored phone will lose at least call history, start screen setup and installed app list from what I have found.

Step #2 is not displayed on the new phone. (How can it restore a backup that is not on OneDrive at all). It skips over that step and I get a default install on the new phone without my call history, start page or app history. I'm not sure what else I
might be missing but for sure at least those 3 items do not come across.

How do I resolve this issue? Suggestions?
