    How to upgrade a domain-joined PC to Windows 11?


    I need to start testing Windows 11. I understand that domain-joined computers will not be automatically upgraded so I'd like to know how I can manually upgrade. We're talking about a few specific computers, not organization-wide. Removing and rejoining the domain is not an option in my case.Also, I also need to test the ARM64 version because there are a few ARM laptops, which are also domain-joined. How do I upgrade those? There is no Media Creation Tool for ARM and again, removing and rejoining the domain is not an option.Thanks.

    Re-join the domain after upgrade

    There is no need to leave the domain, you can perform the upgrade (with Admin privileges).

    You can also leave the domain, upgrade with a local account, then join the domain again.

    I just finished clean installing Windows 10 Enterprise build 17093 in a VM using a local account, and it still has the same steps in the tutorial for me.

    Is your PC already joined to a domain?

    I would like to know what the upgrade process is for domain-joined PCs, from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10, since the Upgrade to Windows 10 icon isn't in the system tray for domain-joined PCs. To be clear, my domain is at home, not a business, so these are
    personal PCs, not belonging nor used by any business, so they do qualify for the free upgrade. I have a domain at home because I wanted to teach myself server admin.
