Windows 10: How To Upgrade Win 11 Home to Win 11 Pro w/ M365 E3 Subscription

I recently purchased a new laptop, and it came with Win 11 Home. I wouldn't normally buy a new machine with the Home edition, however, I knew my M365 E3 subscription includes Win 10/11 Pro, so I thought I'd be able to upgrade it. No so, at least not yet.My impression was once I register the laptop using my E3 account, I would then have the option to upgrade to Pro, but that doesn't seem to be possible for me. M365 E3 Win 10 Enterprise

Hi

I have an M365 E3 subscription for our company and those users which had a laptop running Win 10 pro prior have been upgraded automatically to enterprise. However I have a number of laptops with Win 10 Home edition what I have upgraded however the license
isnt being activated.

I keep being told that we need to pay for an upgrade from Home edition to Pro which doesn't sound right given its advertised as part of the E3 subscription. To test this I created a VM with a Win 10 ISO
without any product key and it was upgraded to Enterprise automatically and the license validated for enterprise.

What do I need to do to upgrade a win 10 home edition to enterprise as part of the E3 Licence is the win 10 enterprise licence as it looks like these devices have an OEM key in the Bios that prohibits the licence being applied?

 

Does M365 E3 license (trough EA/Volume licensing) also give right to Win 10 Enterprise LTSC (IOT)?

If your company has M365 E3 subscriptions, this includes the right to upgrade to Windows 10 Enterprise.

Does this also mean that it includes the right to upgrade to Windows 10 IOT Enterprise LTSB/LTSC
editions, rather than to Win 10 Enterprise?

If yes, where can I find this explicitly in the terms?

The text is unclear.

The Product Terms only mention that M365 F1 and M365 Business have limited Windows 10 use rights, and they exclude Win 10 Enterprise LTSC.

What is the situation for M365 E3?

And IF M365 E3 does not give this right to use Win 10 IOT Enterprise, and these have to be acquired seperately, in that case:

- Where/under what program to obtain these seperate licenses?

- What does that mean for the E3 licenses previously assigned to these devices ('s users)?

 

Legal Clarification regarding Win10 e3 Subscription for my existing Windows 8.1Pro

If i order for Win10 e3 Subscription for my existing Windows 8.1Pro, then after one year of end of subscription, Kindly Clarify the following lines found from the official link: Windows Enterprise E3 in CSP - Windows Deployment | Microsoft Learn:

"When a subscription license expires or is transferred to another user, the Enterprise device seamlessly steps back down to Windows 10 Pro or Windows 11 Pro."

I am asking clarification so as to avoid my misunderstanding and legal disputes in future. As per my current understanding,

Three possible scenarios arise after the 1Y Subscription period ends:

1. Win 10 e3 subscription expires and downgrades to Win 10 Pro / Win 11 Pro (Favourable for me).

2. Win 10 e3 subscription expires and downgrades to Win 8.1 Pro Licenses (Back to Ground in laymans' terms) (Not favorable for Me)

3. Win 10 e3 subscription expires completely, no licenses left with me, and again I have to invest in another Subscription process. (Not favorable for me)

Since i have a substantial order to place for my organization, I need this Clarification directly from MICROSOFT Support TEAM Please. Thereafter, we will need commercials for Win10 e3 Subscription for my existing Windows 8.1Pro
